Good morning,
…& welcome to edition 5 of Cultural Content.
The theme of this edition is WORDLE.
Hat tip to Orkney Library and National Library Scotland who got on this in early Jan / when I was putting together Cultural Content #4. It’s only been in the past fortnight that cultural organisations more broadly have referenced it, with tributes coming from the Met, Royal Academy, National Railway Museum, and Black Country Living Museum.
National Library Scotland: Leave Clues
I liked (back in Jan 13) that this worked whether you had Wordled or not. It’s also the sign of a good bit of Twitter content, that they generated an ‘in-kind’ response from the British Library in the thread. Less impressive was Google Arts & Culture’s reply in the thread.
Orkney Library
Orkney Library has been very good at creating physical book visual metaphors, particularly this year (see also their contribution to Burns Night). Scroll to the end of this post for my absolute favourite this fortnight (they shurpassed themshelf). Anyway, back to Wordle:
Not too complicated, but works visually in your feed without needing explanation.
The last word…
Museum Selfie Day (19 Jan) and Library Shelfie Day (26 Jan) both fell in this past fortnight. Hats off, Orkney for crushing this.
